Turn scanned documents into searchable, editable text

A scanned contract, agreement or receipt is just a picture — you can't select or search its words. OCR (optical character recognition) reads the text off the page so you can copy it, edit it, or search inside it. PDF WithMe runs OCR entirely in your browser using the open-source Tesseract engine, so a confidential document never leaves your device. Unlike most online PDF sites, PDF WithMe never uploads your file anywhere — all processing happens inside your own browser, and it even works with your internet switched off.

How to use it

  1. Drop a scanned PDF or an image (JPG/PNG) into the box above.
  2. Choose your output: a searchable PDF (looks identical but the text is selectable), plain text, or an editable Word file.
  3. Click Run OCR. It reads a few seconds per page, all on your device, then downloads the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is a "searchable PDF"?

It looks exactly like your original scan, but an invisible layer of recognised text sits on top — so you can select, copy, and Ctrl+F to search inside the document. Ideal for scanned contracts and case files.

Are my scanned documents uploaded?

No. The OCR engine runs inside your browser via WebAssembly. Your files, which are often sensitive, never touch a server. After the engine loads once, it even works offline.

Which languages are supported?

English at the moment, which covers most legal and business documents. More languages can be added — get in touch if you need one.

How accurate is it?

Very accurate on clear, upright, printed scans. Faint, skewed, low-resolution or handwritten pages are harder and may contain mistakes, so proofread important text.
